Packing: McDavid Performance Boxer

The McDavid Performance Boxer was my favorite pre-op underwear. A lot of the other underwear that worked well for everyday use weren’t great for exercise, and I’ve never been a huge fan of briefs, which were often the most reliable for packing. The McDavid Performance Boxer is a boxer brief similar to the athletic compression shorts, but it has a pocket for an athletic cup. This was great for a couple reasons. First, I never had to worry about my packer falling out, no matter what I was doing. I wore these to the gym, I wore them bouldering and sport climbing, and I never had any issues or concerns. Second, there was no contact between my packer and my skin. While the Andrew Christian underwear kept the packer in a separate pouch, the pouch was separated by a U-shaped opening so that the top of the packer still made contact with my skin. For me, this was uncomfortable and often meant having my packer sticking to me and pulling on my pubic hair - no good!
Other pros for the McDavid: they held up really well and had a great waistband that didn’t roll/fold over on itself much. The legs didn’t ride up for me (as often happens with trunks/boxer briefs). They also have the aesthetic appearance I prefer in my underwear - pretty simple boxer brief, nothing flashy.
One downside: the outer layer of the pocket for the packer is a sort of mesh, so you can kind of see the packer through it. It’s not a terrible issue, but I sometimes worried that, in a locker room setting, someone might be able to tell that something was a bit off if they looked too long (the layer against the skin is solid black, so there was a slight contrast between the packer and its “background”). I’m not sure how realistic of a concern this was - I’m sure I spent a lot more time examining my underwear situation than anyone else.
